WE NEED A NAME!

We are in the final editing phase of our next DVD and we really need a name for it! So let’s have a contest!

Hint about what the theme of the DVD is:

You can sleep on it, write on it, or decorate it.

Some of the topics it will teach include:

Run Sugar
Buttercream Transfers
Royal Icing Transfers
Chocolate Transfers

Buttercream borders
Fondant borders
Two tone icing

Basic airbrushing techniques
Fondant flowers
And more!

So put those thinking caps on and come up with a great name for our new DVD and post it in the comment section below.

If we choose your entry, you will win a free copy of the DVD when it is released in early 2010.

In addition, we will include all entries into a randwom drawing for more winners.

Have fun!

Winner and News!

Hello Sugar friends!

Thank you all for the wonderful testimonials. They are going to be a great addition to our new SugarEd Website.

Along with working on the new site, and editing the new DVD (for early 2010 release), we are also cooking up some new exciting projects to offer you in 2010 and 2011. We have a lot of things simmering on the burners, so stay tuned for more info to come!

The winner of the testimonial drawing is:

                Morsels By Mark said…
I have all of the SugarEd Dvd’s. Sharon is an informative teacher and very                                          fun to watch. I look forward to purchasing each an every dvd she puts out!
Her customer service is bar none and she is one of the fastest shippers! Other cake instructors should follow her lead!

Congratulations! Please email me to claim your prize!

——————————–

I also have exciting news to share with you guys! I have been invited to return to TLC’s Ultimate Cake Off for season two! I cannot disclose any of the details yet, or the Cake Off Police will come arrest me and throw away the key. And that would not be good. So for now I must be quiet.

I will be spending a large portion of the upcoming weeks in work mode, so please bear with me if my blog posts are a little bit more infrequent than usual. I am very excited, and more than a little bit nervous! I do know, no matter what happens, it will be a great experience and a lot of fun to spend time with my teammates, who I will introduce you to later on.

OK kids, be back tomorrow with a tutorial!

Happy caking,
Sharon

De-clutter Update

September 16, 2009 by Sharon Zambito 33 Comments

The saga continues….

Well, I have made some progress. I think.

I finally got the spare room cleaned out and organized. I wanted to take a picture of it before the clean up, because it was bad. Really bad. But in his zealousness, P-Hubby gutted it before I could snap the picture.

I have now converted it into my SugarEd office. The SugarEd stuff had overtaken my cake room, and the foyer, and the dining room, and part of the den. So it was time to give it a room of its own.

Now I have all my inventory, supplies, and 2 work stations in here. Even got my recliner so that after a long day at work, I can kick back and relax while watching the Young and Restless on nightly replay on Soap Net. (My one guilty pleasure.)

Ah, feels good , yes, to have this room done.

But where in the heck did all of the junk go? Oi vay:

Into my older son’s now vacant room. He took his furniture off to his apartment at college. So now it’s filled with crap I still have go through and organize and purge. I am working on it bit by bit.

Oh yeah, and there is some more in the hall.

Oh, and the dining room too.

Why does it seem that when you clean out rooms, you end up with more stuff than when you started?

And looky what I found!

An 18 inch square cake pan that I bought, oh, maybe 8 years ago? Maybe more? I held onto it thinking I might one day have an oven big enough to hold it, but alas I do not. It is time to say goodbye.

Anybody want it? You can see it is unused with the label still on it. Dusty too. I have never used that brand, so I cannot really say if it is a great pan or not. But the label says right there that it is a “darn good cake pan.” So there you go! But you are welcome to it.

If you would like to have this lonely underappreciated pan, drop a comment and I will draw a random winner next week.

Don’t you just love how I turn my old junk into give-away prizes? Classy, huh? 🙂

———————————-

Well, I am about to get real busy for the next 2 months or so, so my cleaning project will have to be put on hold for a while.

I am going to Kansas City this weekend for the Missouri ICES Weekend of Sharing, and I will check in with you guys next week!

Happy caking!

You guys need to email me at sugaredinfo@aol.com to claim your prize from the list I will provide you.

Note: Many guesses came in via email, so if you do not see a winner’s name in the comment section, please do not call the contest police. I assure you there is no cheating allowed at SugarEd.

I had a lot of fun with this one, and you guys seemed to also. Some of your answers just cracked me up. We will surely do this again in the future. Thank you all for reading my blog and hanging out here with me. Love you guys!

Guess the Colors!

April 7, 2009 by Sharon Zambito 66 Comments

Hello Sugar Babies!

Here is a baby shower cake I just did. It was a very unusual color combo for a rather unconventional mom to be. I thought it would be fun to turn it into a little contest! (The crowd roars!)

Whoever guesses the 3 main colors used in this cake will win a prize! The 3 main colors are in the stripes, rattle and bow. The black (clay gun strings and dots) is not one of the 3 colors. You do not have to guess the base color. The winner will get to choose one cake tool from my site (from a list I provide.) The first person to guess correctly will win. If no one guesses the correct answer by Thursday, I will do a random drawing of all the entries to pick a winner.

Is SugarEd fun or what??

Want to learn how to make this style and shape of cake?
Stay tuned…………….

We Want Classes!

I get a lot of inquiries about coming to teach in different parts of the country and how that all works. Sometimes a cake club or a shop owner with sponsor the classes, but anybody can host a class. Here is the info:

If you want to host a class, you will need to find a place to hold us for 2 days. Each person needs 4-5 feet of table space depending upon what we cover. We can customize a class with the topics you desire. The minimum number of people depends upon my traveling costs to get to you, but it is usually around 10- 12-15. Once you find a place, and we agree on the dates, we determine the class cost (usually $200-$250 for 2 days with lunches provided, but students need to bring some supplies). Then we put the word out about the class and I start collecting deposits. If the minimum number of students is not reached, then the class is canceled and deposits are refunded. Please let me know if you have any more questions!

Now put your thinking caps on guess the colors
of this wacky baby cake!
Good luck!
